Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse and Caesars Sportsbook partnership

Officially being inked in February 2022, nearly a full year before it opened in January 2023, Caesars Sportsbook OH and Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Ohio signed a multi-year partnership deal. With the partnership, Caesars Sportsbook became the "Official Sports Betting Partner" and Caesars Entertainment the "Official Casino Partner" of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Building on their Ohio-based roots with the Scioto Downs in Columbus, OH, Caesars expanded their footprint to take advantage of the newly signed sports betting legislation that officially went into effect on January 1, 2023. While the deal between the two is not exclusive, the Caesars Sportsbook partnership ensured that they would have premium visibility throughout Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse for the hundreds of events hosted throughout the year.

History of the Mortgage Fieldhouse

  • 1992: With a project price tag of around $100 million, an arena in downtown broke ground on April 27, 1992. The new arena would replace the Cleveland Arena, which was built in 1937 and had an approximate capacity of 12,000.
  • 1994: On October 17, 1994, Gund Arena opened its doors for the start of the 1994-95 Cleveland Cavaliers NBA season, with the first event being a Billy Joel concert. The arena was named after Gordon Gund, a Cleveland businessman and CEO of Gund Investment Corporation and owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers (NBA), who also owned the San Jose Sharks (NHL) and Cleveland Rockers (WNBA).
  • 2005: For just over a decade, Gund owned and operated the Cavaliers, before a 2005 sale to Dan Gilbert, the owner of Quicken Loans. Immediately funding renovations of the arena including state-of-the-art sound and video systems, and upgrades to the locker rooms and suites, Gilbert also renamed the arena Quicken Loans Arena.
  • 2007: On October 16, 2007, the Las Vegas Gladiators of the Arena Football League (AFL) announced they would be moving the team east to Cleveland. Renamed the Cleveland Gladiators, the team immediately began playing their home games in Quicken Loans Arena.
  • 2014: In July 2014, Rocket Mortgage Field House (then Quick Loans Arena) was selected as the host site of the 2016 Republican National Convention, hosting the first Republican presidential debate of the 2016 election cycle.
  • 2018: A major renovation in 2018 overhauled the entire arena, reducing seating capacity and expanding the concourses while removing three sections of the upper level.
  • 2019: Following a rebranding of Quick Loans to Rocket Mortgage, the arena changed its name to Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse.
  • 2021: On August 29, 2021, Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Ohio hosted its first major boxing event, as Cleveland-native Jake Paul fought former UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley in an 8-round professional boxing bout. Paul would win the match via split decision.
