Despite a preseason injury to Bengals QB Joe Burrow and all the speculation surrounding his possible return, Chase remains a slim favorite over Minnesota Vikings wideout Justin Jefferson.
Is Ja’Marr Chase a good bet to win the 2023 OPOY, or can one of the other strong contenders edge the Bengals superstar out? Find out when we take a closer look at the DraftKings Ohio 2023 OPOY odds and more.
DraftKings Top 5 Betting Favorites for OPOY
- Ja’Marr Chase +1100
- Justin Jefferson +1300
- Christian McCaffrey +1500
- Nick Chubb +1700
- Tyreek Hill +2000
Chase is coming off his second consecutive 1000+ receiving yard season but did miss four games with an injury. He plays in one of the top-scoring offenses in the pro game and has snagged 22 TD passes through his first two seasons.
Justin Jefferson is the reigning OPOY and the top option for QB Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings. He was the 2022 leader in receiving yards and led the NFL with 28 big plays of over 20 yards.
Christian McCaffrey is in a good situation with the San Francisco 49ers. He’s a threat with his feet and hands but also has an injury history, but he did play in all 17 games and scampered for over 1000 yards between the Carolina Panthers and 49ers.
Nick Chubb is the top running back for the Cleveland Browns and scampered for 1525 yards and 13 rushing TDs in 2022. Chubb also led all running backs with 13 plays over 20 yards. The Browns star played in all 17 games last season and averaged 5.2 yards per carry during his five-year career.
Tyreek Hill is in a good spot with the Miami Dolphins. Hill finished second last season in receiving yards while missing starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for much of 2022. Hill can do it all and could put up serious yards if his QB stays healthy.
2023 Offensive Player of the Year Betting Analysis
Chase is the betting favorite, but there’s a reason why the odds are so long, and that’s because any one of these five, as well as several others, could win the OPOY Award.
The Bengals have a terrific offense, and Chase is the centerpiece. He makes plays and has good chemistry with Burrow. The Bengals QB is out with a calf muscle injury, but I wouldn’t allow the Burrow injury speculation to keep me off this bet because Chase is going to get his no matter who is behind center.
I like McCaffrey quite a bit, but his injury history holds me back. Sure, he had an amazing 2022, but he’s entering his eighth season, and maybe he regresses a bit from his strong 2022 campaign.
Chubb is a workhorse back in an offense that didn’t do much last season. He should see plenty of touches, but a full season with Deshaun Watson as QB might mean Cleveland will rely on Chubb less than last season.
The OPOY will likely come down to Chase, Jefferson, or Hill. Jefferson was an absolute stud last season and has stat-stuffing Cousins slinging him the football. Hill is the Dolphins’ go-to guy, and Miami will use him as a receiver or in the “Wildcat,” and he will rack up yards.
Finally, this is a difficult one,, but the OPOY winner will be either Chase, Jefferson, or Hill. If you want to bet on the OPOY, consider betting .33 units on Chase at +1100, bet .33 units on Jefferson at +1300, and .33 units on Hill at +2000.
