Friday Night College Hoops
Ohio sports bettors can go Full Caesar with three instate college basketball games for Friday night:
Eastern Michigan Eagles vs. Kent State Golden Flashes 6:00 pm
We have a solid Friday evening Mid-American Conference (MAC) contest between the Eastern Michigan Eagles and Kent State Golden Flashes. The Golden Flashes share the conference lead with Toledo and welcome an Eagles team looking to halt a four-game losing skid.
Golden Flashes guard Sincere Carry is coming off a seven-point outing against Western Michigan, and we should expect him to go big Friday. Kent State has one of the top defenses in the country–Kent State should be able to neutralize Eagles center Emoni Bates and should win this game by 15 points.
Dayton Flyers vs. Loyola Chicago Ramblers 7:00 pm
Dayton is a game behind Atlantic 10 Conference leader VCU and have a good chance to catch the Rams when they head to Chicago to face the 9-16 Ramblers.
The Flyers are 3-5 as the away team, but Loyola has the worst turnover rate in the college game, and we’re looking at a total of about 131 points. Dayton should win the game by at least five points, but the total is what you want to consider–these are two slower-playing teams that don’t rely much on the triple and won’t exceed 131 points.
Wright State Raiders vs. Cleveland State Vikings 7:00 pm
Cleveland State is a game behind Youngstown State in the Horizon League standings and has a tough matchup with 9-7 Wright State. Both teams take care of the ball very well, but neither school relies much on shots from beyond the arc.
Wright State would love to avenge an earlier season loss to the Vikings–Cleveland State has a distinct height advantage, and Ohio bettors should look for the moneyline and take Cleveland State to win.
Saturday College Basketball
Ohio sports bettors can also go Full Caesar with these four MACtion action contests.
Ohio Bobcats vs. Central Michigan Chippewas 2:00 pm
Ohio has a four-game winning streak on the line when they travel to Mount Pleasant and a matchup with CMU. Ohio is one of the country’s best three-point shooting teams, and they will shoot the Chips out of their building.
CMU has one of the worst offenses in the college game, committing too many turnovers with a below-average free throw shooting percentage. Ohio should win this by five points and inch closer to a possible NCAA Tournament invitation.
Miami (OH) Redhawks vs. Northern Illinois Huskies 2:00 pm
More MACtion action when Miami meets Northern Illinois in a game between two sub-.500 teams. Neither side plays much defense, but the sides score points, which could be a contest ending Over 150 points.
Miami is one of the best free-throw shooting teams in the nation, but they turn the ball over too much and are lousy from beyond the arc. The total is the play, and you’ll look for 150 points.
Toledo Rockets vs. Bowling Green Falcons 5:00 pm
Ohio bettors have more MACtion action when the 1st place Toledo Rockets travel to Bowling Green for a matchup with the 10-16 Falcons.
Rockets guard RayJ Dennis has one of the nation’s highest offensive usage rates, and he scored 17 or more in his previous nine matchups. Toledo has the second-largest winning streak in D1 hoops, and they should cover a seven-point spread or less against the less experienced Falcons.
Buffalo Bulls vs. Akron Zips 7:00 pm
The last MAC game of the day is a good one–Buffalo is a fast-playing side with a high turnover rate and faces a Zips team that has dropped two of their past three but are one-game behind conference leaders Kent State and Toledo.
Akron guard Xavier Castenada has the second-highest offensive rating in the college game, and Akron needs to beat the Bulls to keep pace with the conference leaders. The Zips should cover -7 points with a total of about 142 points.
