Browns Watson Ruled Out Ahead of Sunday’s Matchup with 49ers

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson was ruled out for Sunday’s matchup with the San Francisco 49ers and didn’t practice on Wednesday.

Browns QB Deshaun Watson hasn’t recovered from the rotator cuff injury sustained in the Browns’ September 24 matchup with the visiting Tennessee Titans. The injury caused Watson to miss Cleveland’s October 1 matchup with Baltimore. Browns had this to say Wednesday about the status of his starting signal-caller,

“I think the piece there that’s important is medically cleared versus functionally able to do your job,” Stefanski said. “I think that’s … with all of our guys, when you’re working through an injury, you need to be able to functionally perform. That’s what Deshaun’s working very hard in his rehab to be able to get back to 100%.” Stefanski did indicate that Watson was throwing better than he was previously, saying, “Yeah, he’s working through this process, and he’s getting better.”

How does this injury affect the betting odds?

Caesars Sportsbook Ohio opened with San Francisco as a -1.0 point favorite, but that number has ballooned to -9.5 at Caesars. That’s a big jump, but the 49ers should win this game and cover the spread.

The total opened with a 41.5 point total, but that number now is 36 points (-110) at PointsBet Sportsbook. The total is likely your best play for this game, and you will likely want to wait until the game starts and maybe bet this one ingame.

49ers vs. Browns Best Bet

We have two of the best defenses in the NFL featured in this contest, and I’m not so sure Cleveland would score more than 14 points if Watson dressed for this contest. The Browns’ defense is stout, and they will be able to contain the 49ers’ powerful offense and keep this one Under the total.

Cleveland scored just three points during their Week 5 loss to Baltimore with rookie Dorian-Thompson Robinson under center and an offense already reeling from the loss of All-Pro RB Nick Chubb is going to have a difficult time moving the football against arguably the NFL’s premier 49ers defense.

San Francisco brings the third-best scoring offense in the game, and they meet the 4th best defense in the league playing at home. If anyone can slow down the 49ers and RB Christian McCaffrey, it is the Cleveland defense. Play Under 36 (-105) at Caesars Sportsbook.
