2023-2024 FBS National Championship Outright Winner Betting Analysis
With Week 4 in the books, the national championship contenders are separating themselves from the pretenders. Let’s look closer at the top 5 on the BetMGM Ohio betting board.
Georgia (4-0) +225 at BetMGM
The two-time defending champion Bulldogs are 4-0 and 1-0 in the SEC. Georgia has a lighter schedule, but they must travel to Auburn this Saturday, and they have a difficult away game on Nov. 18 at Tennessee. The Bulldogs did enough to beat South Carolina but haven’t looked that impressive, and I want to see a statement victory before backing the Bulldogs.
Michigan (4-0) +400 at BetMGM
Michigan allows the least amount of points in the nation, and the offense does what it needs to do to win. The Wolverines shut out Rutgers over the final three stanzas in their 31-7 home victory this past Saturday but have tricky away games against Michigan State, Penn State, and Maryland. They’ll need to win all three and their season finale at home against Ohio State in order to make the playoffs — and they should win each of those games.
Texas (4-0) +900 at BetMGM
Texas might be the best bet on the board at +900. They have two strong away victories over Alabama and Baylor, so we know who they are on the road. This Saturday, Texas hosts the high-scoring Kansas Jayhawks, and if the Longhorns are able to outscore the Jayhawks, and I believe that they will, Texas will be in good shape to win the conference, and the +900 will be gone forever.
Ohio State (4-0) +900 at BetMGM
The Buckeyes came through at the end, but that offense should’ve scored more than 17 points against Notre Dame. Outside of the Buckeyes’ final game-winning drive, the offense struggled mightily and has all season long. We’ll know more about Ohio State after their October 21 home game with Penn State. Of course, they also end their season at Michigan, which won’t be easy for them.
Florida State (4-0) +900 at BetMGM
Florida State has looked impressive with solid road wins over Boston College and Clemson, and who can forget their 45-24 opening night home thrashing over No. 4 LSU? The Seminoles have a tough home matchup October October 21 and end the season at Florida. The Seminoles are in the playoffs if they get through those two teams, and I think they will.
