Hosted by the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), the event brings together experts, advocates, and professionals to share ideas on preventing and treating gambling-related harm.

Attendees can earn continuing education credits, join interactive workshops, and hear from local and national speakers. Ohio residents, behavioral health professionals, and those in recovery can apply for scholarships sponsored by the Problem Gambling Network of Ohio and Ohio for Responsible Gambling.

This three-day gathering aims to strengthen responsible gambling practices and support those affected by problem gambling.

What to Expect at the Conference

Attendees will find a mix of keynote speeches, panel discussions, and hands-on workshops. The program features world-class presenters from across the country, including researchers, regulators, and treatment providers. Sessions cover topics such as early warning signs of gambling problems, ethical practices for gaming operators, and the latest treatment approaches.

Workshops offer practical tools for professionals working in mental health, social work, and addiction services. Attendees can learn to use screening tools, develop prevention programs, and design outreach strategies for vulnerable populations.

Those seeking continuing education can earn up to 11.25 CEUs through certified boards.

Exhibitors from state agencies, nonprofit organizations, and technology firms will showcase resources like helplines, self-assessment apps, and training materials. Networking breaks and evening receptions provide chances to connect with peers from Ohio and beyond.

A special “Voices of Recovery” session will feature personal stories from individuals who have navigated gambling challenges, highlighting the importance of compassion and support in recovery.

Why It Matters for Ohio

Ohio has seen a rise in gambling options over the past decade, from casinos to OH online sports betting. While these activities generate revenue and jobs, they can also lead to problematic gambling for some individuals.

The conference brings critical attention to this issue by focusing on Ohio responsible gambling tools and community support networks.

Local leaders, including representatives from the Ohio Casino Control Commission and the Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services, will discuss state initiatives to promote safe gaming environments. Attendees will learn about Ohio-specific resources such as the 1-800-GAMBLER helpline, which offers free, confidential support 24/7.

Scholarship opportunities for Ohio professionals ensure that more local experts can benefit from the latest research and best practices. By equipping therapists, counselors, and social workers with up-to-date knowledge, the state hopes to improve early intervention and reduce stigma around seeking help.

For sports bettors and gaming operators in Ohio, the conference offers a chance to stay informed about evolving regulations and ethical standards. Operators can learn how to implement self-exclusion programs and staff training to identify at-risk customers.

Overall, the event underscores Ohio’s commitment to balancing the economic benefits of gambling with the well-being of its citizens.
